I'm Laurence and I am a weaver, an artist and a maker. At heart, I am a weaver, I love to experiment with different yarns, fabrics and materials within my woven pieces. 

 

I have two looms, a Kromski rigid heddle loom (Nigella) and a four shaft table loom (Keith) both of which can help me create different types of art work and accessories for the home. Not only do I love to create woven pieces, I also use the weaving design process as a form of art. I use windings, collage and paper weaving to create unique pieces of art that can be hung up on the wall.

 

Most of my work takes inspiration from Culture, Geography or History. Whilst bringing together a collection I like to research extensively the what’s, why’s and where’s. This means I can then impair that knowledge to you, the browser, the buyer.

 

I am mostly inspired by the world around us, by the spectacular cultures of our world, capturing the spirits of the people or the animals, or from the beautiful histories of the world that have made the planet what it is today.

 

If even one of my pieces teaches something about the world we live in, raises awareness of a particular issue, or prompts someone to find out even a little bit more about the inspiration behind my work, then my job here is complete.
